Sili Zonker

This is a simple fly patterns to tie. A pattern that can be tied up in countless different combinations. The short Zonker wing which is only attached to the front of the hook allows the wing to move very well. It pulsates and swims at the slightest movement. A true killer typ of flies. 

Materials.

Hook: Kamasan B170, 175 or Maruto W12

Thread: Black

Body: Medium Chrystal Hackle from http://www.flyboxdirect.co.uk. In this case, the color is Ultimate Fire Orange

Vinge. About 3-4 cm strip Zonker. Barred red and black. 

Rubber: Two colored Sililegs. Fluo yellow / orange

Eyes: Fluo orange chain eyes.

1. Fasten the thread

2. Clear away the fibers from a few millimeters of the Chrystal hackle so that only the thread remains.
Then tie in the cleaned part, down to the hook bend.

3. Wrap the hackle forward towards the hookeye.
Stop a few mm before the hookeye. 

4. Attach two strands of Sili legs with the orange part pointing backwards

5. Cut up the part of the Sili legs that are pointing forward and bend them backward and fasten them wind 5-6 turns of the windingthread. 

6. Now, prepare the zonkerstrip by cutting a smal point at the front end of the strip. 

7. Tie the strip in front of the body and legs and then cut the strip so it will be aboute 3-4 cm long. 

8. And as you can ses, you can vary the color combinations as you like. 

9. Finaly. Attatch a pair of chain eyes and secure them whit a smal drop of superglue. 

Spoonflies

Requests for spoonflies has increased dramatically the last time. Perhaps it is because that they have become banned in some popular put-and-take waters here in Skåne and of course it is a flypatterns that differ, both in terms of appearance and movement in the water. Some do not even want to call them flies but what is called a fly. If you can throw it with a flyrod, is it then a fly or what .....

Pattern Description
Hook: Kamasan B900C crab hook size 2
Thread: Optional, but i like to use  any kind that are a little stronger. I prefer red thread.
Shield/back: Different types of foil, cut intodesired shape. The best, I think is shaping the foil in a slightly elliptical shape with the wider part attached a little bit down the hookbend.
Bottom: Epoxy adhesive mixed with any type of reflective glitter powder
Eyes: nickel chain eyes

Epoxy flies

I use a lot of two-component adhesives, epoxy, to my flies. A bit messy but it gives the flies outstanding durability and with a little practice you learn to control on the solidification process so that it form beautiful flies. I use epoxy mainly to the different fish imitations but also to some tubeflies and nymphpattern.

Flies for carpfishing with zig-rig

A delivery of some zig rig flies for carp fishing. Most of them work equally well to other fisheries, such as for trout and rainbow trout. They all have high buoyancy to cope pull up a zig rig for an extended period. As alternative boobieflies they are certainly real killers

Spring Success

Some of this spring's successful pattern for fishing for rainbow trout and brown trout.

The following description applies to the lime green variant and i think that the photo gives you a hint of the color on the other flies in the picture 

Hook: Kamasan: B175 Size 6 or 8 

Thread: fluo lime green 

Head: fluo yellow Tungsten bead 3-4mm. 

Tail: white marabou 

Body: Flybox intense lime Medium Crystal hackle 

Legs: 2 double folded fluo orange / yellow silicone legs

Diving Beetle. Realistic Zig flies for carp fishing

I have received many orders for flies to zig rigs for carp fishing and has composed some patterns with incredibly good buoyancy and with good ability to absorb and retain dipping and other fragrances.
I will present  some step by step descriptions of them ahead. These flies also works to fish with  in the usual way but i prefer to fish them with sinking leader or even sinking or intermediate fly lines  becourse of there very good buoyancy.

Wiggling Gummy Creep

Those flies are just what the name says, Wiggling gummy creeps. They are vibrant and swimming in the water with a bouncing motion that most fish species have hard to resist. Sea trout, rainbows, perch, etc. taste happily on those creeps 

. 

Abdomen 

Hook: Almost any kind of short shank, wide gap hook size 8 or 6. Here i have used a carp hook.

Thread: Black

Body: Ice dub uv black or black spectra dubbing 

Legs: 2 black-red silicone legs.

Front body

Link to the abdomen: 0.35 to 0.40 mm monofilament

Hook: Same as for abdomen

Thread: Black

Eyes: Silver Medium (about 3.5 to 4 mm) dumbbell eyes with yellow / black flat stick eyes glued on the dumbbell or dumbbell eyes with ready yellow eyes 

Body: Ice dub uv black or black spectra dubbing g. Dub also between the eyes.

Legs: 2 black-red silicone legs.

1.     Start by attaching the tying thread on the hook to be The abdomen.

2. Dub the thread with a small amount of black dubbing

3. Dub a small lump

4. Attach the sili leg with the red parts pointing backwards and wind the remaining part against the hook shank toward the hook eye. The sili leg should been tied in on each side of the hook  shank 

5. Dub the thread with some more black dubbing

6. Dub the body and when you reach the sili leg bend them backward and attach them just in front of the red part. Take a very small amount of black dubbin and dub in front of where you just attached the sili legs 

7. Take the scissor and cut the remaining loops open   

9. It should now almost look like a spider. 

10. Bend the remaining black part of the sili legs backward and secure them with the winding thread . Secure the thread. cut it off and give it and give it a little varnish or super glue

11. Cut of the hook right where the dubbing starts

12. You now have a ready abdomen and are ready to go to the next part of this pattern 

13. Repeat the step in picture no 1

14. Take about 5 cm of the monofilament and attach it on top of the hook shank

15. Secure with a drop of super glue

16. String the abdomens on to the monofilament. Fold the monofilament over the hook and attach it with the thread. Abdomen will now dangle in a small loop

17. Attach the dumbbell eyes just behind the hook eye. Attach it whit figure of eight winding around and across the eye. Secure with a drop of super glue.

18. Dub a smal lump of black dubbing as you did on the abdomen.

19.-21. Now you repeat the same step for attaching the sili legs as you did  on the abdomen

22-23. When you dub the front of the fly you have to dub around and across the dumbbell eyes with figure of eight with the dubbed thread.

24. Finish the fly with a whip finish. Cut of the thread and secure with varnish or super glue

25. Finished fly. This fly has an incredibly seductive jigging movement in the water and can of course be tied in different color combinations. Variations of olive, white, orange and red tend to be toxic. The fly has been an incredible killer for fishing rainbow trout in lakes and streams and for sea-trout on the coast and in river and streams.
